Clinical Case 20080102 - General overview


  • Patient: Male, 66 years old.
  • Clinical symptoms: anal pain and burning. 
  • Preoperative clinical inspection of the anus, and postoperative endorectal sonogram were done. 
  • Anal examination: a visible crack in the skin around the anus.

 

Abbreviations: EAI: Internal anal sphincter; ESFINT: Left-side internal Sphincterotomy.

 

Complete left-side sphincterotomy (D2) and compensatory hypertrophy of internal anal sphincter (D1), in the opposite area can be seen. (See image 1).

Treatment: Left-side internal sphincterotomy.


Patient is free of symptoms (11 months of follow-up).
